Aiken Concert Band continues the tradition with a Christmas concert | Entertainment

The Aiken Concert Band will continue its annual holiday tradition with a family-oriented Christmas concert.

The Christmas with the Aiken Concert Band will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7 at the Etherredge Center on the USC Aiken campus, 471 University Parkway.

Tickets cost $ 15.

The concert will feature a selection of holiday favorites to celebrate this most wonderful time of year.

Under the direction of conductor Todd Jenkins, the group will perform a selection of favorite holiday songs, including “Sleigh Ride”, “A Fireside Christmas”, “Lets The Bells Ring” and “Minor Alterations – Christmas Through the Looking Glass. “.

In “Lets The Bell Rings” based on the well-known Ukrainian Bell Carol, Robert Buckley took a rhapsodic approach mixing original ideas with a well-known melody. Every section of the group gets a chance to shine in this dazzling and expertly crafted holiday production number.

“Minor Alterations – Christmas Through the Looking Glass” is a mix of favorite Christmas tunes, transposed from major to minor tones, then disguised, layered and transformed even more. From the sinister “Deck the Halls” at the start to the frenzied finale of “Nutcracker Suite,” each track is lovingly twisted into something new and invented.

The Aiken Concert Band is a non-profit organization established to promote musical entertainment and enjoyment for the citizens of Aiken and the Central Savannah River area. The group is currently made up of over 70 musicians from the Aiken region.
