Spring is fast approaching and the Aiken Concert Band is celebrating the change of seasons with their next concert.
The band will perform their spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at the Etherredge Center on the USC Aiken campus, 471 University Parkway. Tickets are $15 and $20.
Under the direction of conductor Todd Jenkins, the program will feature a selection of fiery favorites, including “Harry Potter Symphonic Suite – the Sorcerer’s Stone”, “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” and “The Kentucky Colonel”, a work commissioned for Col William E. Clark, the group’s former longtime director.
In “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”, audiences will take a trip to the dark side in this exciting and dramatic work. War, pestilence, famine and death are each vividly illustrated in this fascinating suite for wind ensemble.
The artistic forces of John Williams create a wonderful symphonic blend of music from the hit movie ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’. The film’s imagery is woven into the varied textures of the work.
The Aiken Concert Band is a nonprofit organization established to promote musical entertainment and enjoyment for the citizens of Aiken and the Central Savannah River region. The group currently consists of over 70 musicians from the Aiken area.
