Bonita Springs Concert Band brings the holiday spirit to Riverside Park




Get into the holiday spirit; bring a lawn chair and a friend when the Bonita Springs Concert Band presents their free annual Christmas concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 12 at Riverside Park in downtown Old Bonita Springs.

The group will open with “This is the most wonderful time of the year”. Other holiday favorites include “Fresh Aire Christmas” by Mannheim Steamroller, “Christmas on Broadway” and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.

Popular singer Jennifer Gilmore will perform “The Girl from Ipanema” and “On the Sunny Side of the Street”.

The members are under the direction of Gary Smith, who retired after 24 years as conductor of the Marching Illini Band and the Symphonic Band at the University of Illinois. This is the 8th season that Mr. Smith is leading the group. “The talent of these musicians is enormous, ranging in age from 15 to 90 years old,” said Mr. Smith.
