With a showcase of spooky classical masterpieces, the Valley Symphony Association Orchestra kicks off the VSA’s jubilee season with two performances of Disney’s groundbreaking marriage of symphonic music and animation, “Fantasia,” featuring the magnificent classical repertoire of the original 1940 film. Concerts will take place on Saturday 23 October at 7:30 pm and Sunday 24 October at 3 pm at the Pavillon Montrose.

The VSA is an all-volunteer regional arts organization in its historic 50th season. Musicians of all ages and backgrounds hail from the Uncompahgre, Grand and North Fork valleys and throughout the West Slope.

“The music we play is timeless and enduring, just like Fantasia,” said Hartland Clubb, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VSA. “And with the price of tickets for students at just $ 5, young people can attend this concert which presents emblematic music of this masterpiece. Adult tickets cost $ 20 on presale and $ 25 at the door.

The concert partner of the 50e The season opener is Go Big Banners, a local Montrose company specializing in large format printing. “We have relied heavily on the help and advice provided by Go Big Banners when we have launched a public awareness campaign over the past few years, ”said Priscilla Fry, VSA Board Member. “Owner Ken Holyfield and his lovely staff have played a role in helping us spread awareness of the VSA Orchestral and Choir Concert Series since 2014 through well-designed, easy-to-read and strategically placed banners.
