Classical music stations around the world unite behind peace.
On Thursday, March 10 at 6 p.m., CapRadio will join classical music stations across the United States and Europe — and beyond — in supporting Ukraine and promoting peace as a testament to the human spirit. They will come together to broadcast part or all of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at different times of the day.
Inspired by an initiative of Radio România, Beethoven will be heard in 33 countries at different times of the day, in different recordings chosen by each broadcaster.
Cristina Comandasu, editor-in-chief of Radio România Muzical, is behind the project. “In difficult times, we must remember the symbols of the best of who we are and what we stand for,” she said. “And what better symbol than one of the masterpieces of the human creative spirit, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, with its connection to the notions of brotherhood and peace?
Join the #OdeToPeace campaign tonight at 6 p.m. at CapRadio.org or by tuning in on 88.9 FM to the last movement of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the famous “Ode to Joy”, with a text by Friedrich Schiller, which is a “celebration of human brotherhood”. You can find more information about the global movement here.
