BBC Popular Music is recruiting a Commissioning Executive.
This role will regularly lead to the delivery of major television orders. For example, broadcasting live events like The MOBO rewards to BBC1, BBC musical factual documentaries for BBC2 India, Studios or Acquisitions. Therefore, a mature relationship with music labels and the industry is necessary.
This role is also the bridge between BBC Radio networks and their video content commissions to TV/iPlayer. An understanding and experience of the process for placing appropriate Pop content on TV/iPlayer is required. This is a small team, and this role often needs to be self-directed, often working alone but feeding and informing a larger team of stakeholders. Therefore, recent practical experience of the commissioning process of TV entertainment/factual entertainment (studio/documentary) is required. The peg period is likely to include live events, (BBC and external third parties), delivery of BBC2 TV documentaries, and support for the commissioning of a newly recruited team leader: Directing Editor, Popular Music.
