Fantastic evening as Concert Band performs live

What a fantastic night the Ardee Concert Band had last Friday night in December for their 39th annual Christmas concert.

All of their members enjoyed every minute of their first performance since December 2019. All of the groups that make up the organization that is Ardee Concert Band participated in the socially distanced concert in front of a live audience of their recorder group led by Gerry Farrell, Junior Band led by Jayne Healy, Intermezzo Ensemble led by Tim O’Callaghan and National Band Champions, Ardee Senior Band led by Ronan O’Reilly.

Having missed their 2020 concert, they were looking forward to 2021 and it did not disappoint. Once again, they instilled the start of Christmas in everyone who attended the concert.

The band’s concert has always been the start of the holiday season for many homes in Ardon and abroad and with the help of the community and the fight against COVID-19 it will hopefully continue for at least another 39 years. Photos and videos are available on their Facebook page.

Congratulations to the winners in their respective groups for the most improved player for the year 2021.

In the Junior group, Tadgh Doolan received his award in his festive Santa Hat, in the Intermezzo Ensemble Maggie Keirn received the Stephen Lynch Memorial Trophy.

Tom Healy received the Seán Matthews Perpetual Trophy from senior conductor Ronan O’Reilly for the most improved young player in the senior orchestra.

Thank you to the committee and to all the assistants for the evening for another well organized concert, everything went very well.
