The Hot Springs Concert Band will perform their Mid-Winter Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 20 at the Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village.

The concert will introduce new music to the public and will feature Ryan Lewis, associate professor of percussion at Ouachita Baptist University, where he teaches percussion and music history classes and directs the percussion ensemble, la marching band drum line and steel drum ensembles.

Lewis is also a “top-notch xylophone soloist who has performed with many professional symphony orchestras and made guest appearances with various bands”. Lewis has also been a guest with the band before, where his “crowd-pleasing performance” inspired Hot Springs Concert Band chief conductor Craig Hamilton to invite him back for another gig, according to a press release.

This concert will present a total of 11 compositions, some with several movements and all offering a rich variety of musical styles. As usual, the Mid-Winter concert is a step up in the band’s musical depth, taking the audience to a level and dimension above and beyond that of most other HSCB concerts.

“The Hot Springs Concert Band looks forward to performing its special repertoire for our friends and neighbors in Hot Springs, Hot Springs Village and surrounding communities. We hope you will join us for a memorable afternoon of music and especially Dr. Ryan Lewis as he once did is once again offering his incredible talent for your viewing pleasure,” the statement read.

Tickets for the concert are $15 for general admission seats and can be purchased from band members or at http://www.hsvticketsales.com.
