MUSICAL recruits are needed to strengthen the membership of the Kelty and Blairadam Concert band.
The group, which meets every Tuesday, invites new members of all standards to come join them.
Group leader Stewart Malcolm said a warm welcome will be extended to all new hires.
“On a good day right now, we’re around 18 and the age range is 16 to 76,” he said.
“We formed about ten years ago from scratch. We have a lot of former military players within the Royal Marines, RAF and Army group.
We just play normal popular music, group music, basically easy-to-listen music.
“We rehearse every Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the club. People can just come in, bring their instrument and blow.”
The group has a busy month with appearances at the Kelty Miners Memorial Service and Song Service as well as their traditional New Years concert at the Kelty and Blairadam Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
“We’re trying to make it an open concert on January 1 so that all the local bands can come and participate as long as they can come to rehearsals on December 21 and 28,” added Stewart.
“The first thing is fun. Everyone should enjoy it. We’re a social group with good jokes and nothing is taken too seriously.”
Anyone wishing to participate can attend the weekly rehearsal at the veterans club from 7 p.m.
