Lecturer in popular music – Songwriting


The Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Popular Music – Songwriting.

The BA in Music Performance and Industry is a three-year undergraduate program in popular music. As the incumbent, you will join a team of highly skilled, forward-thinking professionals committed to new approaches to learning and teaching. You will teach different levels of ability, from students specializing as producers to teaching entry-level music technology. Teaching delivery will be hands-on in small classes with few individual arrangements, and you will also be responsible for creating online content to support learning. This position is a great opportunity for a professional songwriter and visionary educator.

As the successful candidate, you will have substantial experience in the music industry and expertise in songwriting. You will have an understanding of songwriting techniques and how to teach them. You will be able to design work programs at all undergraduate levels that involve the creation of lyrics, melodies, harmonic structures and production techniques in a range of genres with recognized professional expertise in at least one specialty . Previous teaching and curriculum design experience in higher education is desirable but not exclusive. The Faculty of Music is committed to innovation in learning and teaching.
