The Mullingar Concert Band celebrates Culture Night on Friday 23rd September with a performance in the concert hall, conducted by conductor John Walsh. Admission is free and the concert starts at 7 p.m.
It’s a great opportunity to see the band perform in their own rehearsal room, meet the members and learn more about the Concert Band, as well as all the Mullingar Town Band has to offer.
About the Mullingar Concert Band
The Mullingar Concert Band, with conductor John Walsh at the helm, was launched in the fall of 2021 with the aim of encouraging adult musicians of different abilities to come together to play music, learn, socialize and enjoy.
It is a part, but also a natural extension of the famous Mullingar Town Band and many members have played with the band before. New members are warmly welcomed.
The concert band has a dedicated management committee, made up of the members of the orchestra, whose role includes coordinating all aspects of music programming and organizing rehearsals and performances.
Mullingar Town Band manager Kim Magee was instrumental in the creation of the Concert Band, and this new structure allows her to delegate some of the day-to-day work of running the band to committee members.
With gigs already scheduled for Christmas and Easter, the workload is already starting to pile up!
The current management committee is made up of: Aoife O’Reilly, Orla Duncan, Damien McDonnell and Padraig McCaul.
Mullingar Concert Band is rooted in the local community and aims to bring the best in music and entertainment to the Mullingar community.
