A city band is eager to perform in front of an audience again after suspending all concerts during the pandemic.

Restormel Concert Band will be in concert for the first time since the pandemic struck at St John’s Methodist Church in St Austell, Cornwall.

St John’s has been the home of the band for many years and is where they rehearse every week.
The group said the Tuesday November 16 concert is the first of several events taking place in St John’s between now and Christmas.

Although the St Austell Festival of Music and Speech has postponed its annual nine-day festival until 2022, there will be a special Spoken Word Celebration Day on Saturday November 27 and a Music Celebration Day on Saturday December 4.

Artists under the age of 18 will come to perform in solo and in duo in a non-competitive context. It will be a free event for them, their family and their friends.

Meanwhile, St John’s will continue with its own Christmas events later in December, including a Carol by candlelight service on Sunday December 19 at 6 p.m. and a Christingle service on Christmas Eve at 3 p.m.
