St. Marys Community Orchestra Performs Today | News, Sports, Jobs

ST. MARYS – The St. Marys Community Concert Band will perform a Sounds of the Season concert at 7:00 pm today in the St. Marys High School Auditorium.

The concert is presented by Pleasants County Middle School and St. Marys High School and will feature a collection of Christmas favorites.

Composed of around 60 residents and led by Rocky Wiseman and Wayne Smith, the St. Marys Community Concert Band has performed since 1999 with music by piccolo, flute, clarinet, saxophone, English horn, French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonlum , tuba and percussion instruments.

Today’s show is dedicated to Reverend Randy Mitchell, who passed away in September. He was a longtime member of the French horn group.

“Tonight, a chair is empty in her memory, representing the void left by her absence and how much SMCCB members miss”, group members said in the program.

Pre-concert music by pianist Kris Hinrichs will begin at 6:35 p.m.

Admission is free, but donations of any amount will be accepted to benefit the Pleasants County Middle School Band and the Instrumental Music Program.

Masks are mandatory per Pleasants County School COVID protocols. Doors open at 6.15 p.m.

Anyone interested in joining the band can email Christine Keeling at [email protected] and include their name, instrument, mailing address and phone number. Auditions are not required and rehearsals will resume in March at St. Marys Marina.
