The Montgomery County Concert Band will perform on May 1

SOUDERTON – Upper Dublin’s Daniel Klugman will be the featured French horn soloist this Sunday, May 1, at the Montgomery County Concert Band’s annual spring concert.

Daniel is a recent graduate of the University of Delaware, where he studied Horn Performance with Dr. John David Smith. In addition to accompanying Daniel on Otto Schwarz’ solo Cape Horn for horn and orchestra, the group will perform a variety of audience-pleasing pieces with a dance theme in mind: King Size March, Street Tango, Tarantella, Dancing Kites, Jitterbug, Romanian Folk Dances, Lord of the Rings Hobbits, and more.

The concert will take place at 3pm at the Dock Mennonite Academy, 420 Godshall Road, Souderton. No admission is charged but voluntary donations are accepted and appreciated.

The Montgomery County Concert Band was founded in April 1995 by Stephen E. Frederick and Paul Ferla. The driving force behind this was Paul and Steve’s belief that the North Penn community could support a community band and that there was a large pool of musicians in the area to draw from. The band’s success over the past 26 years has proven their hunch to be correct.

The band has performed over 300 concerts for area audiences, including performances at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s annual state conference and the Association of Concert Bands national conference.
