Diversifying its offering and expanding its value to the community, the South Coast Choral & Arts Society (SCCAS) this year formed its own concert orchestra, the SCCASBand.
The band’s inaugural concert titled ‘ONE NIGHT IN NOVEMBER’ will take place on Saturday, November 13 at Newland Uniting Church, Victor Harbor.
The doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
A special part of the program will be the group that will accompany the artist and guest singer Lily Van Rhoda. Lily will perform two songs in memory of SCCAS good friend Mick McKinlay, who sadly passed away last year.
In addition, the group will perform many other pieces in a variety of styles and genres, warming hearts and keeping their feet on the ground for two hours.
Supporting musicians of all ages, the group’s vision and mission is to create a community wind ensemble striving for technical musical excellence, but never at the expense of fun.
Players love to surpass themselves musically, enjoying sharing and playing entertaining and beautiful music with their community.
Part of the strategy includes the formation of the âSCCAS Entry Bandâ offering new and returning musicians the opportunity to play at a beginner level, with the possibility of becoming more skilled, working to become a member of the main ensemble.
The Gospel Center at 2 George Main Road, Victor Harbor generously offers their room for evening rehearsals from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Monday.
