YOUNGSTOWN – Engelbert Humperdinck will come to the Stambaugh Auditorium on December 14 for a concert at 7:30 p.m.

The iconic British pop singer has recorded in a variety of musical genres over his 50+ year career.

He has 64 gold and 35 platinum albums, four Grammy Award nominations, a Golden Globe, and stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Las Vegas Walk of Fame, and Leicester Walk of Fame.

Humperdinck’s first single was “Release Me”, which entered the Guinness Book of World Records for reaching 56 consecutive weeks on the charts. It was No. 1 in 11 countries.

Army Band, Chorus Coming to Town

YOUNGSTOWN – The US Army Field Band Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus Washington, DC, will perform at Stambaugh Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on November 3.

The concert, titled “Heroes, will be a celebration of individuals who have gone above and beyond in service to their communities.

The concert is free, but tickets must be obtained in advance (limit of four tickets per order) at stambaughauditorium.com, by phone at 330 259 9651, or at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office.

The concert will present a musical journey through stories of strength, determination and courage shared across generations of those who answered our nation’s call.

The US Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus has entertained audiences of all ages for more than six decades.

As the premier touring musical representative of the US military, the band travels thousands of miles each year to present a variety of music.

The concert band is the oldest and largest of the four performing elements of the Field Band. This elite 65-member instrumental ensemble, founded in 1946, has performed in all 50 states and 25 foreign countries.

Trivia with a twist for potential development

YOUNGSTOWN – Potential Development will present Mahoning Valley Trivia with a Twist on Thursday, September 29 from 6-9 p.m. at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland.

This is the eighth year that Potential Development has sponsored a quiz. Originally a sports quiz night, the event now offers attendees the opportunity to showcase their knowledge on a wide range of topics. All proceeds support the school’s programs for children with autism.

Teams of up to eight participants, ages 21 and older, are available for a $1,500 table sponsorship, which gets them an open buffet and drinks; opportunities to bid in silent auctions; various games such as cornhole; and the chance to win team prizes during the quiz.

Amarah Parker, special guest and alumna of Potential Development, will perform “The National Anthem” at 7 p.m., just before the games portion of the evening begins.

A 128GB 3rd Generation iPad Pro will be raffled off at the event for those unable to attend as a team. Tickets are $20 each and are available through Venmo @PotentialDevelopment, cash or check or by emailing Jodi Harmon at [email protected] The winner does not need to be present to win the iPad.

Potential Development is a K-12 school for children with autism.

Cooking demonstration for one or two people

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Jewish Community Center is offering Cooking for One or Two, a cooking demonstration for seniors, at JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane.

Participants will learn how to prepare a basic meal of chicken and assorted vegetables and transform them into several unique dishes, perfect for one or two people. They’ll learn small-scale meal prep, leftover planning, tips and tricks for keeping food fresh and tender, and sauce options. Participants will receive a few prepared meals to take away and enjoy at home.

Participants can choose one of three sessions: 12-1:30 p.m. on September 30; 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 25; or 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 15.

This program is brought to the JCC by Mercy Health’s Community Health Education Program. Registration is required by calling the JCC Wellness Office at 330 746 3250 ext. 153.
