After a two-year hiatus, Coachella is back at the Empire Polo Club for another appearance in its massive two-weekend event. For the past few years – when the event has been held, that is) – the music and arts festival has invited some of Hollywood’s most popular songwriters to perform and this year the festival called on Danny Elfman. The composer of a hundred films, Elfman and his accompanying orchestra found themselves playing various themes originally written by the composer.

For fans of his collabs with Sam Raimi, that means yes, he and his friends performed Raimi’s beloved theme. Spider Man trilogy. You can watch that below.

Elfman is no stranger to the world of superheroes, especially the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of his superhero credits include Avengers: Age of Ultron and Justice League. Soon fans will also be able to hear his work on Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“I’m starting to do pre-work bits for Doctor Strange 2 that Sam Raimi is directing,” the musician said of the film last year. “Even if I don’t start it for a few months, there are pieces of recorded music that they need for the sets.”

The composer also happens to be a frequent collaborator with Tim Burton, marking the filmmaker’s first stab at the Caped Crusader.

Batman was very stressful — almost nervous, stressful, Elfman revealed to the NY Post. “All I had done up to that point was offbeat comedies. Nobody but Tim wanted me in the movie. I really had to prove myself. There was a desire to get me to collaborate with Prince [who wrote additional music for the film]but I wasn’t open to that.”

Disney’s official synopsis for the film can be found below.

“To restore a world where everything is changing, Strange enlists the help of his ally Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, and the Avengers’ most powerful Scarlet Witch, Wanda. But a terrible threat looms over humanity and the entire universe. which can no longer be done by their power alone.Even more surprisingly, the universe’s greatest threat looks exactly like Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6. What other characters do you think will end up appearing in the next feature film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section or by hit up our writer @AdamBarnhardt on Twitter to discuss all things mcu!
